I don’t think that any other teams have cheerleaders yet.

Also, I’m pretty sure that Japanese cheerleaders aren’t the same as the more traditional American Basketball and Football cheerleaders that the Marlins have. Check out Ouendan (DS game) to see more what they look like.

Cheerleaders, eh? Any further penetration (no pun intended) into the rest of the league? I think it’s funny when things come full circle. We invent baseball and it’s “As American as…”, but the Japanese picked it up and are fanatical about it. So, in some ways, it’s “As Japanese as…” (not to mention how big it is in Central/South American, but not as big as Japan)

I even heard of, but missed, a documentary on how there’s this one Japanese kid’s league that if you don’t make the cut you may as well commit seppuko and if you make it you have jobs guaranteed for life. (A slight exaggeration, but not too far from the truth)

The Marlins have always had an odd baseball dynamic, they’ve even got cheerleaders nowadays (the Mermaids), which does actually bring it closer to Japanese baseball.
