[...] I loved Sambomaster before I knew I loved Sambomaster, but when I read “changing the world in japanese“, a fantastic article about the band by tim rogers, I finally learned the band’s name and heard their best song. It’s hard to justify how much I love the band since I can’t understand a single lyric that Takashi Yamaguchi is saying, but the band’s music does mean a lot to me and I did my best to evangelize “Sono Nukumori ni Yō ga Aru” as best I could to my friends and family. Dave took to it instantly and even the difficult-to-please Duffy thought that the music was “alright”, but I was stonewalled when I sent it along to my good friend Min.
They're probably the best on the list, but that's just my taste. I make no guarantees that you'll love this stuff too, but it's all pretty solid.

I think I cast a pretty large net with the music I listen to, but I haven't heard of most of these bands. Or rather, I've heard of them but have never listened to them. Especially the RX Bandits, since I've heard you talk about them multiple times now.

Lostprophets are good, but not "BEST OF THE DECADE!" good. I've never really been super blown away by their albums, although Start Something made a pretty strong case, now that I think about it.

Catch-22 is a pretty interesting band, but it's a middling ska experience in their post-Kalnoky era, sorry guys. Permanent Revolution was a good concept and a good album, but Somewhere in the Between blows it out of the water (I realize they're almost different genres and styles, but that's just preference talking)

I think the case for downloading gets stronger each year that Coulton is able to afford to live in Brooklyn and raise a daughter primarily off of Internet sales. There are a large number of people who will refuse to financially support an artist out of some strange feeling of entitlement, but I'm sure that a happy medium will be reached at some point where most people will actually buy music legitimately.

RE: 5) Any time.

So I just had a few things to say based on this neat entry.
1) Thanks to you I heard a lot of these bands and ended up buying their albums. So, "hello, music industry! You need to allow people to share music experiences with each other!" I got into Lucky Boys Confusion and LostProphets (interestingly not mentioned here) because they were on your computer and I heard it while on Christmas break when I threw the music into my install of Sim City 4.
2) I agree with a lot of your choicse
3) I have some Catch-22 songs from when they used to have a page on MP3.com
4) There's a case to me made for allowing downloading of music. First of all, for some of these bands we first d/l'd them or heard them from bootlegged copies. Guess what? We then supported them in concerts and through CD purchases. And, second, because of JoCo allowing downloads, I discovered some of his weirder songs and then bought some of his covers.
5) I'm going to have to borrow some of these CDs to check out the bands!
