I just think its frakkin hilarious that you told us not to mention Sephiroth in the same sentence as Kekfa, effectively doing exactly what you told us not to do, making yourself both a hypocrite and a tool. ;P

"It’s chilling and he’s never been matched since (don’t even mention Sephiroth in the same sentence, he’s an absolute tool compared to Kefka)."

Direct quote my friend.

I mentioned how I wrote Fanfiction on FF6 and Chrono Trigger, but I forgot to mention that it was while trying to learn the backstories of the FF6 characters that I came to really get into Fanfics for a few years. (That and looking for Ranma fanfics since we couldn't afford the entire series on VHS and Hollywood video was slow in getting new tapes)

From my point of view, all I remember about getting Chrono Trigger is that we had to try REALLY hard to convince Dave to part with his money for the game. It was at the Hollywood Video by our house. I spotted the game and you may have told me something about it. I think I was attracted to Akira Toriyama's character designs. I was really heavily into my anime phase at the time. Once we convinced Dave to add in him money we were ready. Here's what I remember about the game:

12000 AD was a really powerful time period for me. Just like X-Men and other works of art that I've been attracted to, I was fascinated by the conflict between the magical beings and those without. How the magical people got to be in a floating city. This is, as I've commented on my blog, a huge trend in Japanese culture. Quite a number of games, books, movies, anime, and manga feature those who are in the upper classes living up in the sky (such as Battle Angel Alita) and the dregs live down below. They also go their comeuppance when you finished that sequence.

To this day I've been fascinated by time travel paradox literature, movies, and other cultural art forms. I loved being able to change stuff in the past and seeing the effects in near real-time. The desert that was reforrested. The guy who decided to no longer steal. And, of course, in the saving of Chrono's life.

When Chrono died, I think I almost hit reset on the console. I didn't realize I was supposed to lose the fight. And then, once I had lost, I was extremely mad that I had wasted so much ether and tonic to keep myself alive.

The amazing stories in Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger led me to write a fanfic about it, but it became lost when one of our older family computers died and Tripod deleted my Final Fantasy website.

The courtroom and the trial was awesome! I remember thinking it was so unfair that I was being blamed for that offense. I also thought it was so neat (and also unfair) how the way your character acted earlier in the game was brought up as evidence. I remember trying over the next few times that I played the game to see if I could do anything that would cause me to be proven innocent. I did succeed once (although I don't remember if it was after reading an online strategy guide), but well, I don't want to ruin what happens if you succeed.

Finally, although it's somewhat of a JRPG staple to have the main character be a silent protagonist, I loved all the jokes that were made (and words that were put into Chrono's mouth) simply because the main character didn't talk. I loved how he only nodded and shook his head. (Minus, I think a few parts where you could actually choose dialog for him)

I also loved the Millennial Fair and how you could actually play the games and gain items (including cats) and it wasn't just for show.
